10% of visitors to Paultons Park commend its unique garden offering
Paultons Park in Hampshire is well known for being the best value theme park in the UK, and for the much-loved Peppa Pig World experience. Hidden among the park’s themed lands are a series of historic and landscaped gardens that take visitors by pleasant surprise.
The land Paultons Park occupies is steeped in history, giving this UK attraction a unique edge. Formerly known as the Paultons estate, the vast 3000-acre site that Paultons Park sits on dates back to the Domesday Book, when it was called the Manor of Ower.
The gardens of the estate were originally laid out in the 18th Century by Capability Brown, the famous English landscape architect, and much of his work can still be seen in Paultons Park to this day.
In addition to its 70 rides and attractions suitable for children and adults of all ages, guests to Paultons Park frequently praise the 11 different gardens they discover across the park site.
James Mancey, operations director at Paultons Park said: “We’re incredibly fortunate as a theme park business to be operating from such a beautiful and historic site. It has always been important to us to retain as much of the natural features of the site as we can, and leverage these to enhance our visitor experience.”
Paultons Park features a Japanese Garden inspired by traditional Japanese planting environments, with beautiful trees interspersing the water features and stone architecture, as well as several themed areas where topiary wows. Where Paultons House once sat now presents sprawling gardens that were laid out by Capability Brown, with 160-year-old Cedar trees offering plentiful natural shade.
Additionally, a horseshoe-shaped lake fed by a tributary of the River Test, is a beautiful and tranquil space frequented by local wildlife.
Hundreds of visitors to the attraction this summer have taken to TripAdvisor to praise the attraction for its garden offering.
John N, who visited in August, said: “Wonderful theme park, something for all ages and the most beautifully kept park and gardens we have visited.”
Carly G also said: “The cleanliness is the best I’ve seen from any theme park. The grounds are beautiful also. Flowers and garden kept to such a high standard. We cannot wait to come back again.”
‘Merchillebeachlover!’, who visited with their wider family, left a review praising the multi-generational appeal of Paultons Park: “What a great day! We went as three generations aged from 3 to late sixties and all of us found something to enjoy. Peppa Pig World was the best for the 3-year-old, although she did enjoy all of the play park areas dotted throughout the park. The bigger rollercoasters etc were a hit with us adults as well as an appreciation of the fabulous, colourful and immaculately kept gardens.”
James Mancey added: “Our gardens offer visitors a quiet space to unwind, enjoy a bite to eat, and some reflective space away from the busyness of the main park. Parents often head to the gardens for nap time to encourage little ones to take a rest, while grandparents visiting with their wider families enjoy having acres of landscaped gardens and animal attractions to explore during a day of thrilling rides.”
Situated in the award-winning New Forest National Park, Hampshire, Paultons Park has been recognised as one of the world’s leading attractions by TripAdvisor and is now recognised as one of the best value family attractions in the UK*.
