The UK’s number one family theme park has been recognised for its quality of animal welfare, conservation, education, and research

Paultons Park has been accredited by the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA) following a thorough screening process. Accredited status acknowledges a commitment to the core missions of good zoos and aquariums and an adherence to high standards across these areas.

BIAZA’s new accreditation process goes above and beyond the UK’s zoo licensing inspection and marks the extra efforts of good zoos in providing the very best in animal care.

James Mancey, deputy managing director at Paultons Park, said: “Our zoo team works tirelessly to ensure that our animals are given the very best care at Paultons Park. Our mission is to provide our guests with positive educational experiences that inspire lifelong respect for animals and the natural world.

“The BIAZA accreditation demonstrates the sustained efforts of our team to ensure we’re exceeding expectations when it comes to animal welfare and a considered, ethical approach to our zoo operation. In addition, it recognises our team’s conservation and educational strategies that create important learning opportunities for our guests. Receiving the mark of excellence is a fantastic way to start a very exciting year for Paultons Park.”

Paultons Park’s strong ethical approach, high animal welfare standards, and compelling conservation strategies have been recognised as some of the best in the industry. The attraction’s New Forest Cicada project is just one of its celebrated conservation focuses. 11 of the insects, which are historically extinct in the UK, have been introduced from France into a specially created habitat at Paultons Park. The zoo team will rear the cicadas for a number of years before releasing them into the wild and reintroducing the species to the New Forest.

Paultons Park is home to a range of tropical birds, mammals, and reptiles, including Humboldt Penguins and a family of ring-tailed lemurs.

Paultons Park took home an astonishing 10 trophies in the 2025 UK Theme Park Awards,  including the highest accolade, Theme Park of the Year, further cementing its status as the UK’s favourite theme park.

As well as its zoo offer, the family owned and operated park boasts over 70 rides and attractions including the UK exclusive Peppa Pig World.

Paultons Park reopens for the 2026 season on Saturday 7th February with its £12m new world, Valgard: Realm of the Vikings, set to open in May.
