Paultons Park, located in the award-winning New Forest National Park, has generated 357 megawatt-hours (MWh) of solar power since March, with the sunshine contributing 84% of the power needed to operate the attraction’s largest themed world, Tornado Springs.
The family-owned attraction recently invested £1.5 million into the installation of solar car ports in its staff car park and additional solar roof panels on eleven existing buildings. The panels have been live and capturing the power of the sun since the start of March 2025. In that time, Paultons Park has already saved 68 tonnes of CO2, delivering the same environmental benefit as planting over 4,000 trees.
Lawrence Mancey, marketing & technology director at Paultons Park, said: “We are thrilled that our new solar infrastructure has already proven to be such a success and a hugely worthwhile investment. As a third-generation business, we’re committed to making tangible efforts to lower our environmental impact and do our bit to leave our planet in a better place than we found it.
“We’re proud to be leading the way in solar energy within the UK theme park industry. We can already generate 35% of the park’s entire electricity usage through on-site renewable energy. Our solar car port canopies and new rooftop panels mark the first major phase in a larger green technology project.”
Paultons Park’s solar infrastructure is supported by a 430 KW battery energy storage facility (BESS), making sure the energy gathered during sunny spells can be used even after dark.
The award-winning Hampshire theme park, home to UK exclusive and world first Peppa Pig World, has ambitions togenerate at least 50% of its energy needs on-site. Paultons
Park is also taking steps to minimise its power usage by installing sensor-activated LED bulbs and utilising energy-efficient motors and hardware for rides and park vehicles.
The Paultons Promise outlines the attraction’s commitment to the environment, its community, and the well-being of its guests and team.
