Paultons Park, one of the world’s top 10 theme parks, in the heart of Europe’s number one National Park*, has achieved a New Forest Green Leaf Tourism Business Scheme Silver Award.

The Green Leaf Scheme has been created by Go New Forest to encourage its member businesses to take steps towards delivering a responsible net zero business operation. Paultons Park has been recognised by the organisation for providing a credible net zero strategy which aims to help the New Forest become the UK’s greenest destination.

James Mancey, Operations Director at Paultons Park, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded silver by the Green Leaf scheme. As a family-owned business with families as our audience, we don’t just think two or three years ahead, we’re always talking about what we offer this generation, the next and those that follow. The protection of the planet is so critical to long-term thinking and therefore we are pleased that our efforts to net zero are sending us in the right direction along this critically important journey.

“We believe firmly that the best way to make headway in reducing our carbon footprint is to work collaboratively, stay informed and remain openminded. We are grateful to have the support of Go New Forest team and their Green Leaf Tourism Business Scheme to guide us on this journey and remain thankful to our guests who play they ever-important role in protecting the planet during their visit to Paultons Park.”

The family attraction was commended for its efforts to encourage responsible travel including minimising the use of single-use plastic by providing water bottle refill stations across the park and operating a food and beverage system that uses no plastic cutlery or straws.

In addition, the park was recognised for its efforts to use energy efficiently and for maximising the green energy sourced from solar panels fitted on all suitable roofs across site. With its extensive gardens and planting across the attraction, Paultons Park also scored highly in its use of land and nature conservation.

“A net zero strategy has two elements: a reductions pathway and a removals pathway. The New Forest Green Leaf Tourism Business Scheme seeks to support and assist Go New Forest members deliver these pathways in parallel, so that in time The New Forest can become the UK’s greenest destination. Together we can help slow the impact of carbon on our planet and its population.”

Paultons Park was named by Tripadvisor as the 10th best-rated amusement park in the world and the fourth best in Europe – beating all other UK attractions – in the most recent Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards. The family theme park also retained its title for an unbeaten fifth year in a row as the UK’s best-rated amusement park.

The destination covers 140 acres with almost 80 rides and attractions including Jurassic-themed attraction Lost Kingdom, the UK-exclusive Peppa Pig World, a variety of animal attractions, seasonal live shows, and a 4D cinema.
